FAG deep groove ball bearings are available in radial and axial designs for many different variants.

Single-row deep groove ball bearings are available in open and sealed designs. They are designed for high to very high speeds and can accommodate radial as well as axial forces.

Double-row deep groove ball bearings correspond with single-row deep groove ball bearings in design and are used when the radial load capacity of single-row deep groove ball bearings is insufficient.

FAG axial deep groove ball bearings are available in single or double-direction design variants. These bearings are especially well suited to high axial loads.

A wheel bearing’s function is to allow the wheels to rotate on a shaft and prevent fusion of the metals that come into contact with each other.

As it is hardened steel, tough and robust enough to take a tremendously high rate of heat without fusing.

All-wheel bearings are lubricated by either grease or oil depending on their application, but it needs a lubricant in some form or another to prevent failure due to friction.

My Personal Experience with FAG Bearings

I have been using FAG bearings for a number of years now and have never been disappointed with its quality, ease of use and availability.

I recall an incident about 3 years ago when a regular customer brought in a VW Microbus for front wheel bearing replacement due to it being very noisy. 

Upon stripping and assessing, I found the bearings to be relatively new.

But from a competing brand, upon communication with my customer, he informed that a family member loaned his vehicle for a 3-day trip.

During the said trip they encountered a noise which was diagnosed by a repair shop in the area he was visiting during his trip, approx 1000 kilometres from home, as a worn wheel bearing.

He agreed to the repair and continued on his journey after the repair.

Returning home the borrower returned the vehicle to my customer when he encountered a noise emanating from one of the front wheels.

Whether the bearing was incorrectly fitted/adjusted or was just inferior quality, is debatable, but I stick to my faith in FAG Bearings quality.

The customer returns regularly for maintenance of his vehicle but never again for front wheel bearings, therefore my confidence in FAG Bearings is cemented.
